Garth Nagra, League Commissioner

Garth served 34 years in the Indian Navy, retiring just this year (31 Jan 2020) having achieved the rank of Commander.

As a detail oriented Military leader, Garth developed a track record for completing projects on time within budget, as well as a solid foundation in Marine Engineering and Sports Administration.

As the Commander of Joint Secretary of the Navy sport control board, he was instrumental in uplifting the standard of sports and infrastructure within the ranks of the 70,000 member Indian Navy including training and mentoring Naval Athletes for 2016 Rio Olympics.

Garth has participated in Cricket, Aquatics,Soccer, Hockey, Athletics, Handball and basketball, winning best sportsman awards in 1997, 1998 and 2006. Work with youth at the grassroots level earned the title of pillar of strength for training and uplifting the sports at the Naval Children School.

Among Garth’s other accomplishments, he:

  1. Was awarded best swimmer in 1985 in Inter Collegiate University Championship.
  2. Was head of the sponsorship core committee for the Naval sportsmen
  3. Was project head for the study on improving and uplifting the standard of sports and infrastructure within Indian Navy.
  4. Actively initiated, conducted and coordinated multiple sports and technical conferences and seminars.

Garth has a Master of Business Administration in Human resources-2019 a Sports Administration certificate from Sports Management Worldwide – 2014, completed an Advance Marine Technology Course – 2000 and earned a Diploma in Mechanical engineering- 1990.
